Hi, my name is Eric Read and I live with my wife Jacqui and three children in a private country setting at Marua, 25mins north of Whangarei, NZ. My passion has been clay bird shooting for some 15 years or so and in more recent times, has progressed to sporting clays.

I shoot competitively around the North Island, sometimes heading to the South Island or Australia for more challenging international shoots such as the Oceania Games. I have introduced the sport of sporting clays here in Northland and promote it to the general public and fellow shooting enthusiasts.

Sporting Clay shooting is designed to simulate game in the wild, i.e. ducks, pheasants, rabbits etc. Targets can be shot singularly or in pairs whilst wandering through picturesque farmland, bush and shooting over creeks and dams.

I can offer shooting for fun or competition, depending on your requirement. I'm able to cater for any number of people from a lone shooter wanting to get in some practice before the Duck Shooting Season, to larger groups looking for a team building exercise or virtually anyone wanting to 'have a go'. Sporting clay shooting offers an alternative for relaxing business meetings or entertaining that 'special' client.

In addition to sporting clays, we also offer DTL and Ball Trap shooting for those who prefer this discipline, using our state of the art Laporte Balltrap.We can also offer simulated high driven pheasant targets by arrangement.

I can supply all necessary equipment i.e. shotgun, ammunition, targets, traps etc, or you can provide your own. I also provide a mobile service if you prefer to shoot at your own chosen location.

Safety is of the utmost importance and you will be guided through the necessary safety procedures throughout your visit.

We have a barbeque area available with indoor and outdoor seating and full kitchen facilities if you would like to have a meal afterwards or perhaps just a 'few drinks'. You can bring your own beverage and food and use these facilities for a small charge to cover gas and power etc. Tea and coffee is provided free of charge.
